Gym Improvements Coming To Fox Hollies Leisure Centre!

Oct 05, 2024 | News

We are incredibly excited to share some updates on the enhancement of the gym facilities at Fox Hollies Leisure Centre, with over £200,000 being spent to improve the experience of our members and visitors.

Along with Fox Hollies, gyms at Erdington Leisure Centre, Wyndley Leisure Centre, Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre and Northfield Leisure Centre are also set for upgrades.

With any large project, there will be some disruption to our usual service during the installation period. We’ve created this handy FAQ guide to keep all customers up to date - alongside a planned timeline so you have an idea of when this will all take place.

So… what are the plans?

We are upgrading our fitness offering with a brand-new cardio suite and we are also to install an upgraded and extended free weights area along with a range of the latest Hammer Strength plate-loaded equipment. We hope these exciting changes to the gym will be welcome news to our members and we can't wait for everyone to enjoy these new facilities.

We have no plans to alter our group exercise or swimming timetable throughout this process.

When will the works start?

The project will begin on Sunday 27th of October, with a scheduled finishing date of Thursday 7th November.

During this period, we will need to fully close the gym, but you will be able to use any of the Birmingham Community Leisure Trust leisure centres as part of your membership as normal. View our centres here.

Can I use another Birmingham based Leisure Centre during the closure period?

Yes, we are pleased to advise that your Health and Fitness membership will be valid at our neighbouring facilities across the whole of Birmingham. Meaning our members can use the below facilities to keep on track with their fitness goals:

·        Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre

·        Northfield Leisure Centre

·        Ladywood Leisure Centre

·        Erdington Leisure Centre

·        Billesley Tennis & Fitness Centre

·        Beeches Pool and Fitness Centre

·        Stechford Leisure Centre

·        Wyndley Leisure Centre

Please be aware that some of the above facilities are also undergoing refurbishment works during this period so please check their website before you travel. Some of the equipment may differ slightly, so please speak to a member of staff if you are unsure.

What equipment can I expect to see?

You can expect to see the latest range of Life Fitness cardio equipment, including treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes, PowerMills and lots more.  There will be an improved and increased strength area with the inclusion of the latest Hammer Strength plate-loaded equipment.

By introducing more strength and resistance kit, we will also be cutting energy consumption across Fox Hollies Leisure Centre, reducing our annual carbon footprint.

How is the layout and equipment going to change from what we have now?

You won’t see a dramatic change to the layout, but the floor is being replaced to update the general experience so there will be a fresher look and feel to the new and improved gym setting.

Will Group Exercise classes be affected?

With the exception of small group training on the gym floor, there are no plans for disruption to the workout timetable.

Will we be inducted on the new equipment?

Most of the new equipment will display a QR code that can be scanned to receive an instant demonstration on how the equipment works. But if you feel like you need more support, you can book a ‘Get Going’ session, where one of our team can make sure you are comfortable in the new environment and answer any general enquiries about your fitness experience. See more here.

How can we check progress?

We plan to keep our members ad community up-to-date through the improvement process so please look out for exciting progress updates on our website and social media.

Will pricing change with the new upgrades?

No. We are pleased to say that there are no immediate plans to upgrade existing customers membership subscription in response to these changes.

Will car parking be affected during this period?

No. We do not expect there to be any major impact on parking but, with any works happening on site, there will be some element of delivery and short access disruption.

We hope that our community is as excited for the improvements as we are! We’re positive that this upgraded gym offering will be a huge benefit to our members and we’re here to answer any questions about how these improvements may affect you. Please Contact Us here with any questions.
