Get Ready For Our Big Open Weekend!
Staff and members at the National Water Sports Centre are excited for a weekend of fun, fitness, and community as we welcome the Big Open Weekend!
The Big Open Weekend allows members of the community to access free fitness sessions whilst showcasing the facilities and activities within the gym.
Health and Fitness Manager, Rachael Wheatman, says the Big Open Weekend is the perfect opportunity to come and feel the community spirit: “The Big Open Weekend is one of the highlights of the year for me.
“Our members have an opportunity to strengthen a community bond that they’ve created, whilst non-members have the perfect chance to come down and see what we’re all about with free sessions.
“We’ve got a Wattbike masterclass which will give our members increased knowledge of the equipment they use on a daily basis, whilst our free Mindfulness classes are a chance for members, and non-members alike, to test out a new class for free.”
Here are some of the amazing free activities we'll have on offer this Big Open Weekend.
Wattbike Seminar - Saturday – 9:30am
If you’re looking to improve your performance, Wattbike cycling data is the ultimate training tool. But when you’re new to the Wattbike, it can be extremely difficult to gather the data and turn it into something useful. But this FREE seminar, held by a Wattbike master trainer, will show you how to turn this data into something helpful with our ultimate guide and health assessment.

Fitness Competition – Sunday – 10am
On Sunday, the gym team along with our members will be hosting a Fitness Competition. We think this is a fantastic excuse to together as a community and enjoy some healthy competition!
It doesn’t matter if you’re at peak fitness, or you’re new to training, we really can’t stress enough that this event is for EVERYONE - we want as many people involved as possible! If you want to bring a friend who is a non-member, then bring them along – the more the merrier!
We also have prizes to be won – including free memberships and free drinks. If you’re interested in taking part or offering your support, please get in touch with the fitness team for further information.
Class Mash Up – Saturday – 12pm
We’re excited to be hosting a FREE class mash up in our fitness studio. This is a great way to have a little taster of our LIFT, SWEAT and METCON classes that you can normally book via our My MORE App.
Mindfulness Classes – Saturday 11am / Sunday 10am
Tom Walton, who will be running the mindfulness classes, said: “These classes are a chance to restore and rebuild. This session will compliment your other fitness activities.
"By using a series of stretching and strengthening postures, it will rejuvenate your muscles, relax your mind and body, and leave you feeling happier, more energised, and ready for your next fitness session.”
